Civic Education in Alaska
 
 
The Alaska Teaching Justice Network—a statewide coalition of public, educational, legal, and judicial organizations—and ISER are in the final stages of the Alaska Civic Learning Assessment project. That project is examining how civics is taught in Alaska schools; how educators think civics education could be improved; and how much Alaskans know about their political and legal systems and their rights and duties as citizens. This work was funded by the Campaign for the Civic Mission of Schools, as part of a national effort to stem the decline in Americans’ knowledge about and participation in civic and political institutions.
