SLiCA presentations at the International Society for
Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS)
International experts in quality of life research conducted a peer review of
the SLiCA research design in Nuuk in 2001. The SLiCA research team found their
contributions extremely valuable. The team therefore decided that the best
academic forum for the first presentation of analysis results should be the
annual meeting of the society. ISQOLS is the primary international scientific
organization for living condition and quality of life studies. The following
presentations were made in a plenary session and two track sessions devoted
entirely to SLICA:
Birger Poppel: Plenary presentation in “How Are We Doing? Quality of Life
Surveys Around the Globe”
Ed Ward & Marg Kruse: “Lessons Learned for the Social Sciences”
Birger Poppel: “Why a Survey of Living Conditions Among Indigenous Peoples of
the Arctic?”
Virgene Hanna: “Arctic Children: Resources for Well-being. A View from the
Survey of Living Conditions in the Arctic”
Birger Poppel: “The Importance of a Mixed Cash and Harvest/Herding based
Economy to Living in the Arctic”
Jack Kruse: “Relationships Between Social Problems and Other Dimensions of
Living Conditions”
Mariekathrine Poppel: “Relationships Between Violence and Different Living
Conditions”
