Declining Number or Size of Halibut

Norm Kohler of Sitka noted, "Things are happing in the Sitka Sound area. We have always tried to take only what we need. You can't catch a halibut much bigger than 1.5 feet in Sitka Sound anymore. For me not to be able to catch any halibut for my family and for elders is beyond me. When I see the charter boats bringing in small halibut to satisfy their customers, something must be wrong. It's not what I was taught."
