Testing for Heavy Metals

This is a state-of-the-art Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer or "ICPMS". It is used to measure low levels of trace elements - including heavy metals.

Mercury is "sticky" and lasts a long time in mass spectrometers. Another machine, an Automated Mercury Analyzer, minimizes this problem.
