A lab may have a wiz-bang technician who knows how to produce accurate samples every time. But suppose this technician gets sick, or leaves for a better job?

Being able to continuously produce accurate results requires having written procedures. And, since equipment changes and good labs are always working to improve their performance, these written procedures need to be kept up-to-date.
