Response Rates
The best single indicator of the quality of a survey is the response rate. The response rate is calculated by dividing the number of completed interviews by the sum of completed interviews, refusals, no one home, and person unable to be interviewed. The U.S. federal government uses 75 percent as a guideline for a minimum response rate for federally funded surveys. The response rates for completed regions thus far in SLiCA are 83 percent for the Inuit "on-community" portion of the Canadian APS and 84 percent for Alaska (see tables below).
